This historic and art-filled town is famous for its mineral water springs that were frequented by the Native Americans long before the Europeans even knew they existed. The springs and their possible medicinal benefits continue to draw visitors today.  One notable visitor, George Washington, frequented these springs in 1748 with his ill brother Lawrence as he believed that the springs would improve his health.
