BROWN BETTY TEAPOT (8 Cups)
This little teapot has quite a history. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th Century and the birth of the British Ceramic Teapot. The original unglazed teapot was made out of red clay from the Bradell Woods area in Stoke-on-Trent. Today the Brown Betty teapot is still made in Stoke-on-Trent with the same clay from the original area. British people believe the Brown Betty makes the best pot of tea because of the type of clay that is used and the shape of the pot.
Adderley's teapot shape was designed from an original Brown Betty found in a garden shed in the UK, dating back to World War 2. This design is exclusive to Adderley Ceramics! Succeeding generations of Englishmen have proved that Brown Betty teapots make the best pot of tea in the world! The shape of the pot causes the tea leaves to be gently swirled around as the boiling water is added, thus producing an exquisite infusion. The Red Terracotta Clay with its Rockingham Glaze, coddles the brew and gives the perfect cup of tea. These teapots also keep the water hotter for longer.
The 8 cup Betty holds approximately 48 fluid ounces.
Dimensions: 10.25 inches L x 7.5 inches H (with lid) x 6.5 inches W (mouth of teapot is approximately 3 inches)
This teapot is lovingly hand-made in Staffordshire England. Because these teapots are hand made, there may be some slight imperfections. These teapots are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stovetop. We recommend an electric tea kettle to boil the water for brewing your tea. Brown Bettys are dishwasher safe, however the best care is to rinse in hot water and allow to air dry.
